Social entrepreneur recognised for making a powerful contribution to society, the economy and communities

Press Release / News

11th JANUARY 2021: Mental Health and Wellbeing Social Entrepreneur has been named as one of the UK’s 100 most inspirational female entrepreneurs by Small Business Britain’s f:Entrepreneur ‘#ialso100’ campaign.

Frederika Roberts, founder and managing director of Educate to Flourish CIC, a social enterprise dedicated to supporting children’s flourishing, is being showcased alongside 100 female entrepreneurs from across the UK, as part of the campaign’s recognition of the multi-achievements of women that have proved critical to society during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now in its fourth year, f:Entrepreneur was launched in 2017  to highlight amazing female role models to help and inspire all small businesses through content, stories and events. It particularly aims to showcase trailblazing female entrepreneurs that lead small businesses alongside a roster of other responsibilities.

Indeed, Frederika was also called out for her work as a Positive Psychology and Education Wellbeing speaker, trainer and author, which she does alongside occasional postgraduate lecturing in Positive Psychology, part-time work as a Wellbeing Trainer for a mental health charity, and undertaking a six-year Doctorate in Education research programme.  Frederika is also Chair of “Best for Doncaster”, a grassroots campaign group affiliated to the European Movement that she co-founded following the 2016 EU referendum.

From beekeepers to PPE, tech entrepreneurs to pole-dance-enthusiasts, this year’s campaign celebrates inspiring and resilient female entrepreneurs that have flourished despite Covid-19, with many still growing or starting new ventures.

On being listed in the #ialso100, Frederika said: “I am over the moon, and a little stunned, to have been chosen to join this year’s #ialso100 amongst such a fantastic cohort of female entrepreneurs. I am looking forward to getting to know the other amazing women being showcased, and to working alongside them to highlight the brilliant female business talent we have in the UK.”

Both f:Entrepreneur and Small Business Britain were founded by Michelle Ovens CBE, who is also the director of Small Business Saturday UK.

“Congratulations to all the inspiring women chosen to join this year’s #ialso100,” said Michelle Ovens. “Despite the significant obstacles thrown at them in the last year, female entrepreneurship continues to grow and flourish. We need to continue, and increase, our support for these incredible women and celebrate their amazing strength and success in the face of huge challenges.”

“We have seen so many women embracing change, generating and exploring new ideas, rallying around their communities and supporting their peers. This resilience is hugely valuable and will set them up for success as they will be at the very heart of the UK’s recovery.”

About Educate to Flourish CIC

Our purpose is to help children flourish inside and outside of school while they’re in education, and provide them with the tools and skills to flourish in life beyond their education years.  We provide training programmes and workshops for children, their teachers, parents and other adults who care for them.  Our training is informed by evidence from positive psychology / positive education and character education research.

The ‘jewel in our crown’ is our Action Research support programme for schools and multi academy trusts. We are currently working with an Academy Trust of six primary schools in Surrey where teachers are carrying out research projects ranging from supporting reading development in Year 2 pupils (6-7 year olds) through focusing on the understanding and development of the character strength of ‘hope’, to projects exploring resilience, behaviour (and its effect on self-esteem and attainment) and more.

We also guide schools and multi academy trusts through a process known as ‘Appreciative Inquiry’, a unique strength-based approach to create ambitious school- and trust-wide improvements.  The process works by appreciating the strengths within the organisation and the achievement and positive emotions these have already led to (appreciating ‘what is’), and enquiring into ‘what could be’ and ‘what should be’, before moving into creating ‘what will be’.  Educate to Flourish founder and Managing Director Frederika Roberts is a certified Appreciative Inquiry Practitioner.
